Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists Personnel Division Chief/Human Resource Manager with day-to-day operations
  • Routes and enters personnel transactions for assigned departments
  • Supports employee communications practices and systems to keep employees informed regarding important City information
  • Responds to public records requests as needed
  • Maintains personnel files and records
  • Provides administrative and technical support for all assigned departments
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Provides HR guidance to employees and management as needed.
  • Keeps track of sexual harassment compliance rates for assigned departments
  • Facilitates employee onboarding, offboarding, transfers, promotions, and all other personnel transactions for their assigned departments
  • Provides PERFORM support for employees and supervisors in assigned departments
  • Closely monitors departments FTE’s for compliance
  • Responds to assigned departments’ unemployment claims and participates in hearings as necessary
  • Ensures procedures are applied in accordance with CAO policies and Rules of the Civil Service Commission
  • Attends mandatory professional growth and development trainings as required
  • Executes special projects as assigned by the Personnel Division Chief
  • Assists with other department’s HR as needed
