Position Summary
The Compensation Manager is an integral part of the human resources team responsible for administering the wage and salary administration programs and compensation initiatives to support the goals and objectives of the University. The position ensures compensation programs are administered fairly, consistently and in compliance with government regulations as well as University standards and policies. Additionally, this position is responsible for auditing data and ensuring compliance with all Compensation programs.
Candidates may range from recent graduates who have completed relevant coursework in compensation, human resources, or related fields, to seasoned professionals with extensive experience managing compensation programs. Key responsibilities of the position include:
• Analyze new and revised position descriptions against benchmark jobs, utilizing approved market data sources and scopes to determine current market value of positions
• Recommend and negotiate salary adjustments for promotion, reclassification, equity and retention purposes
• Recommend updates to salary structure as necessary to maintain parity with current external market
• Conduct pay analyses in response to requests for optional pay for additional duties determining if additional pay is appropriate based on objective criteria
• Participate in external salary surveys appropriately matching the University’s positions to survey jobs
• Audit FLSA statuses and salary grades checking for consistency within like position titles on a regular basis
• Evaluate current compensation programs and assist in the development and implementation of improvement plans and systems
• Development and delivery of compensation training and communications
• Work collaboratively with HR team members to streamline and integrate HR processes to provide quality service to customers
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in HR or analytical experience with at least 3 years of compensation to include market studies, job evaluations, salary offers, and/or financial/accounting analysis.
