Job Responsibilities

Work with the human resource team to coordinate, control and manage all assisgned client Human Resources related activities. This includes, client/employee grievances and investigations, evaluation of client HR related training needs, writing job descriptions and employee handbooks as well as maintain HR software used for on-boarding, ATS and file management. Ensure activities are executed in accordance with all federal/state laws, vendor agreements and within the client service agreement. Work with operations team to ensure quality service, resolve issues, and determine client needs. Reports directly to HRBP Lead.

This is an on-site position with eligibility to one remote work day after completion of introductory period.

Job Functions

  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
  • Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Address employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns.
  • Manage Wage and Hour, LOA and FMLA compliance.
  • Conduct compliance training.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws.
  • Schedule or conduct new employee orientations.
  • Maintain and update human resources documents, such as organizational charts, employee handbooks, memorandums, or performance evaluation forms.
  • Assist new and existing clients with the completion of job descriptions, performance improvement plans and policies.
  • Train client management/employees on electronic on-boarding for compliance.
  • Confer with client management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
  • Conduct exit interviews and ensure that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
  • Set up and monitor hiring portal for clients. 
  • Provide client management with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.
  • Responsible for processing unemployment inquiries, claims and hearings.
  • Manage paid time off processes in conjunction with the payroll dept. to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Help create annual human resources training plan.
  • Help establish and maintain human resources and training manuals/materials.
  • Responsible for timely investigation of client and employee grievances, including reporting requirements.
  • Participate in strategic decision making, including setting goals and decisions on products/services.
  • Respond to client calls, requests, and inquiries regarding HR related matters.
  • Conduct a minimum of two client employee trainings per client per year (on or offsite).
  • Ensuring new hire reporting to various states and annual EEO-1 submission.
  • Serve as back up and assist the safety team managing on the job injuries, drug testing and training.
  • Help to organize community functions and keep staff abreast of upcoming events.
  • Meet with prospects, when necessary.
  • Stay current in human resources fields.

  • Stay up-to-date on knowledge of legal or regulatory environments.

Education/Experience

  • Human Resources bachelor’s degree or Business Degree with emphasis/minor in Human Resources preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HR generalist or 5 years as an HR assistant in an organization with over 100 worksite employees.
  • PEO experience a plus.
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred; must obtain within first year of employment.

Continuing Education Requirements

  • Completion of a minimum of 10 hours per year of continuing education seminar/course hours in Human Resource and Training topics.

Professional & Community Affiliations

  • Maintain a membership in the national and local chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management
  • Actively participate in community organizations (i.e., Jefferson Parish/New Orleans Chamber Association, NOLA SHRM, SHRM)

Working Conditions/tools

  • Fast paced.
  • Some auto travel to and from client locations mostly in New Orleans and Metairie
  • Laptop/desktop, telephone/voicemail system, copy machine/scanner and printers.
  • Intermediate to expert experience in Microsoft Office series (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable working in Teams.
  • Carry 15 to 20-pound boxes 50 or more yards with training materials

This position will require pre-employment criminal background check and drug test.
